Definitions of Terms Shared by ThruTalk and ThruText
This glossary defines terms used across both ThruText and ThruTalk in the GetThru platform. It’s designed to help new and experienced admins understand key concepts, features, and roles in the system. - Account - An organization or political campaign that holds a contract with GetThru.
- Admin Dash - The landing page when an account is viewed from the admin side.
- Sidebar - The dark blue vertical menu on the left side of the screen on the admin side of GetThru.
- Users
- Invitations - The way users are added to your organization's account. All permission levels must be invited before they can take any action such as joining or creating a texting or calling campaign.
- Permanent Invite Link - A shortcut for joining an account as a user. This is a reusable link that can be sent to new users, allowing them to set up their user profile upon clicking.
- Account Owner - The highest permission level. Typically the main point of contact for account updates. Responsible for entering the required brand registration information for the account on the text side. (See 10DLC, Brand Registration)
- Admin - Second-highest permission level. Can make changes to the account, invite users, set permissions, and manage campaigns.
- Moderator - Can perform all User functions plus some admin capabilities.
- Users - Can send texts or calls in campaigns.
- Groups
- Groups - Lists of contacts uploaded to your account and available to attach to campaigns.
- Contact - The person who is being called or texted, or targeted.
- Mapping - The process of matching column headers in your data file to required or custom fields. (See Required Fields and Custom Fields)
- Required Fields - The three fields necessary to upload a group: first name, last name, and phone number.
- Custom Fields - Optional data fields used in scripts or messages.
- Group Details page - Pages for viewing individual groups.
- Group Export - An export showing information about the contacts in a specific group.
- Valid - Numbers that have been processed and can be contacted via ThruTalk or ThruText.
- Invalid - Numbers in your list that cannot receive text messages (landlines, fax numbers, disconnected numbers, etc. in ThruText), or that cannot be called in ThruTalk.
- Unvalidated - Numbers on your list that have yet to be processed.
- Error - A row in your upload that contains an issue preventing the contact from being used. Errors are removed automatically during group creation.
- Active Group - A group that is eligible to be used in a campaign.
- Archived Group - A group that is not eligible for campaigns.
- Overview pages - Index pages containing links to other sections of the platform (Eg., ThruTalk Campaign Overview, ThruText Campaign Overview, ThruText Conversations Overview, and Group Overview pages.)
- Campaigns
- Active Contacts - The number of contacts eligible to be called or texted from an active group.
- Dedicated Phone Numbers - Phone numbers that are associated with your account that can be used to launch multiple campaigns. Available to US and UK accounts. Currently, dedicated phone numbers are ThruText only.
- Auto-Archive - ThruTalk and ThruText campaigns that are inactive for more than 30 days are automatically archived by the system.
- Start/End Date - A campaign feature that controls when calls can be made or initial messages can be sent.
- Integrations
- Integrations Page - Page where admins and account owners can manage their integrations.
- VAN - A voter database and campaign management platform (short for Voter Activation Network) that supports two-way data integration with GetThru. Admins can sync contacts and data between VAN and GetThru.
- VAN Integration Wizard - A tool that admins and account owners use to add new VAN integrations to their GetThru account.
- External Contact Lists - GetThru landing page for VAN contact lists synced to GetThru.
- PDI - A voter database and organizing tool widely used by campaigns in California that can be integrated with GetThru.
- S3 - Amazon cloud storage that can be configured to receive nightly data from both ThruText and ThruTalk.
- Account Types
- Reseller - A person or organization who resells GetThru at a discount and handles billing and collections for multiple clients.
- Primary Account - This is the main account for an organization or reseller. Account owners on primary accounts can see their organization's Network Account Usage link.
- Subaccount - An account created by an organization or reseller for distinct use by a specific branch of their organization or by an individual candidate.
