Historical Data Overview

GetThru’s exports let you download large amounts of ThruText and ThruTalk data, but there are limits to how much you can pull at once from the UI. If you need data that spans a longer time period than our self-service exports allow, our team can manually retrieve it for you as a historical data request.


Historical data requests are available at no extra cost, but they are a manual process and can take 3–5 business days to complete. If you are looking for data for a date range of 30 days or less, the fastest way to obtain it is to generate it directly using our standard exports.

When To Request Historical Data

Consider submitting a historical data request if:

  • You need ThruText or ThruTalk data for a date range that exceeds the UI's limitations.
  • You want to pull a large volume of data across many campaigns at once.
  • You need a one-time, comprehensive export for archiving, auditing, or external analysis.


How To Request Historical Data

To request historical data, email the GetThru Support Team at support@getthru.io. We will review your request, confirm what we can provide, and give you a form to complete. 


Using Tag Reports For Monthly Breakdowns (ThruText)

Interested in a breakdown of message and segment counts by campaign? ThruText Tag Reports are account-level exports that are generated by month and include:

  • One row per campaign with activity in the selected month
  • Conversation counts for each campaign within that month
  • Message volume metrics for each campaign, including total outgoing SMS and MMS messages and segment counts
  • Counts of failed outgoing SMS and MMS messages
  • Any tags applied to each campaign

If you only need a monthly summary by campaign, a Tag Report is often faster and easier than requesting historical data.

Nightly S3 Exports For Ongoing Historical Needs

If you anticipate needing historical data on an ongoing basis, such as regularly loading messages, surveys, and opt-outs into a data warehouse, consider setting up Nightly S3 Exports.


With Nightly S3 Exports:

  • Export files (messages, surveys, and opt-outs) are delivered automatically to your Amazon S3 bucket each night.
  • You always have up-to-date CSVs, eliminating the need for manual exports or historical data requests.
