Campaign Cloning

Cloning a ThruText campaign lets you copy the settings from an existing campaign so you can quickly recreate it without starting from scratch. This is especially helpful if you frequently run similar campaigns and want to save time while reducing the chance of setup errors. You can clone active, archived, or draft campaigns and then make any changes you need before launching.

This guide explains how to clone a campaign, which settings carry over to the new campaign, which settings must be added again, and what to review before you launch.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

How to Clone a Campaign

You can clone an active, archived, or draft ThruText campaign from the campaign list or from the Review page.

  • From the Campaign Index page:
    • Go to your ThruText campaign list and find the campaign you want to reuse.
    • Click the three vertical dots under Details to open the menu, then select Clone.
  • From a Campaign Summary or Review page:
    • On the draft Campaign Review page, at the top of the page, click Clone to create a copy of the draft.
    • On the active, paused, or archived Campaign Summary page, click Clone under the action buttons.

After cloning, you’ll be taken to the new campaign’s review page, where you can update details before launching.

Carried Over Parameters

When you clone an existing campaign, most of the configuration is copied into the new campaign so you can keep your setup consistent.

The following campaign parameters are carried over to the new campaign:

  • Details: Title, Description, Time Zone, Daily Open Hours, Tags
    • The new campaign title will include (Cloned) at the beginning. You can edit this before launching.
  • Initial Message: Organization ID, Opt Out Language, Message Text
    • If the campaign cloned from had Trackable Links or Custom Fields, update your message text accordingly.
  • Senders: QuickSend setting, Self-assign setting
  • Replies: Recommended Replies
  • Surveys: Survey Questions
    • If the original campaign used VAN syncing questions, review your targeting and VAN survey questions before launching.

These copied settings give you a consistent starting point that matches the original campaign’s structure and messaging.

  • Confirm that your segments, sending phone number, senders, and dates reflect the purpose of the new campaign.
  • Once you’ve finished reviewing and updating your settings, click Launch Campaign from the Review page to start the cloned campaign, just as you would for any other ThruText campaign.
